Bakersfield Smooth Dancers
The National Smooth Dancers meet twice a year. These conventions are multi-day dance events full of social dancing, exhibitions, competitions and meetings for the various NSD Boards and Committees. A time for all the clubs to get together and meet members of the other clubs to keep bonded and enjoy dancing together.

History of National Smooth Dancers

In 1937 The National Smooth Dancers (NSD as it is sometimes referred to) was first organized in Los Angeles. The jitterbug craze had stirred up much interest in dancing across the nation.
In 1942 the club was disbanded due to World War II, but was reorganized in 1947.
In 1949 the San Diego Chapter formed and in the years to follow NSD grew to 14 Chapters. Currently there are a total of 8 Chapters.
In 1964 the Bakersfield Chapter was charted.
